Daily life, Gaza Palestine
Michael Bunel / Le Pictorium
Caption :
Children play in front of men who collect waste. 470,000 tons of waste are produced each year in Gaza, or 1,300 per day. The landfills of the Gaza Strip are all saturated and only that of the center meets anti-pollution standards. The health risks associated with this mismanagement are particularly high because of the high density (1.6 million inhabitants in less than 400 square kilometers). The proximity of landfills to densely populated areas increases the risk of disease spread, while releases of toxic gases or liquids pose a risk of air and groundwater pollution while water resources are already extremely limited . May 13, 2018. Rafah. Gaza strip.
